Executive Board

Owen Reid
President
Hello! I’m Owen Reid, and I’m a junior in the College studying Government, History, and Russian. I hail from the great city of Baltimore, Maryland and I am a very proud Balti-moron. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Moot Court, and I’m very happy to be serving on the Board for the 2025 year. I really enjoy the case reading and preparation aspects of Moot Court, and I’ve grown to really appreciate the Moot Court community. I may go to Law school, but maybe not! Ultimately, I would say what’s kept me coming back to the club isn’t the preprofessional part of the club, but rather the casual yet competitive atmosphere, the lovely community, and the gratification of preparing for oral argument and seeing your preparations pay off. Aside from Moot Court, I do club soccer at Georgetown and you can find me working at the Tombs! I love traveling, food, Premier League and the Orioles! I can solve a rubik’s cube in 10 seconds. š
Anthony Wassink
Vice President
Ā Hi! Iām Anthony and I am a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Government and double minoring in Philosophy and Music. Iām from California (the best state), in a beach city called Redondo Beach (but youāll just hear me call it Los Angeles). Iāve been drawn to law for a while ā creating arguments that range from balancing different interests, to making distinctions between cases, to creating your own ideas about what certain rights entail never gets old to me. As a proud and frequent debater with my mother, and someone passionate about advocating for other people, I find Moot Court to be a great way to refine my ability to do just that. If Iām not cram reading the cases for next practice, youāll probably see me watching baseball or hockey, going on aimless nature walks, or listening to music and learning new songs on the piano!

Victoria Freeman
Treasurer
Hi, Iām Victoria and Iām a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in Economics and Government. I’ve lived in New York City my entire life! I love Moot Court because itās fun: I get to think on my feet and construct an airtight argument. Moot has taught me how to read and analyze case law, and Iāve learned to think like a lawyer and apply it to a hypothetical case problem. Iāve become a stronger and more self-assured speaker thanks to Moot. My favorite Moot tradition is getting McDonald’s the night before competition! When I’m not reading case law, I love reading, trying new coffee shops, and wandering DC. A fun fact about me is that I have a peach-faced lovebird named Solstice who flew through my window!
Jenna Tse
Communications Chair
Hi! My name is Jenna Tse, and Iām a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Government & Philosophy with a minor in Art. Iām from Long Island, New York. Iāve always loved to talk and argue, and Moot Court is the perfect way to put those interests to use! Since joining the team, Iāve had the opportunity to both learn about our court system, and work with a fantastic team of hardworking and inspiring mooters. When Iām not mooting, you can find me drawing in an art studio, taking walks around the Georgetown neighborhood, or late night binge-watching any law show.

Kate Satterfield
Events Chair
Hey! My name is Kate Satterfield, and I am a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service studying Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a concentration in Energy and the Environment (STEM Law represent!). I am from Orlando, Florida and before you ask, yes, I have been to Disney and no, we do not all have pet alligators (only some of us do). I joined Moot Court in my freshman spring hoping to find a community of people as passionate about pretending to be lawyers as I was. I have grown to love this club and everyone in it. From debates about case law to silly vlogs, this team is so so so special. If youāre curious about the Constitution, thinking about going to law school, or just love arguing with people, GUMCT is your place. Outside of roleplaying as an appellate lawyer, I also run a conference where people roleplay various political positions (shoutout Model UN). When I get tired of all of this pretending, I like to cook new and interesting recipes, go to the gym, hangout with my friends, and watch rom-coms. ššš
Captains

Eilat Herman
Eilat Herman is in Georgetown College of Arts and Sciencesā class of 2026, studying Government and minoring in Linguistics. She joined Moot Court as a freshman, and has served as the clubās Events Chair and Co-President before stepping into her current role as Captain. Eilat kindly requests that you do not ask her how many of her roommates are also on the Moot Court team. Outside of Moot, Eilat and writes a sports column for Georgetownās school newspaper, spends way too much time watching baseball and wishing Derek Jeter was still on the Yankees, and strolls around D.C. in search of its cutest coffee shop. Eilat traces her appreciation for arguing to her hometown, Montclair, New Jersey, and will accept no New Jersey criticism.Ā

Roma Jha
Hi! My name is Roma Jha, and Iām a junior in the School of Health. Iām studying Healthcare Management and Policy. Iām from New Jersey, but fortunately not as enthusiastic about the state as Eilat. Iāve always loved puzzles, and working on Moot Court cases is just that. Crafting, revising, and analyzing arguments is like a game ā I know the answerās there, and I have to get creative to find it. Iāve also always enjoyed public speaking, and Moot allows me to improve my ability to think on my feet and clearly communicate my thoughts. Outside of GUMCT, you can find me pursuing advocacy work, watching reality TV, or reading the news. About half of my personality is Philadelphia sports teams (Go Birds!), so you can also find me cheering (or complaining) about the teams!
Vice Captains

Shemaiah DeJorge
Hello! My name is Shemaiah (shuh-ma-yuh) and Iām a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Government and Economics. I grew up in Texas, the greatest state by FAR (if you ignore our politics), but spent a third of my childhood in Accra, Ghana. I began doing moot court during my junior year of high school out of curiosity and have loved it ever since. Doing moot has radically improved not just the way that I communicate, but also the level of understanding that I have of law, politics, the court system and the way our country works. It also brought me the coolest experience of my life – arguing a case in the Minnesota Supreme Court. Outside of moot I love to read (two favorite books so far are āthe Color Purpleā and āOn Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeousā), and one fun fact about me is that I own seven Ruth Bader Ginsburg sweatshirts, four books about her, two Ginsburg branded gavels and a funko pop!

Aly Calmas
Hi! My name is Aly Calmas, and Iām a first-year in the College of Arts & Sciences. I am originally from Hoboken, New Jerseyā birthplace of Frank Sinatra and home of the first baseball game! Moot Court has genuinely been a highlight of my Georgetown experience so far, and I cannot wait to continue spending time with and learning from the wonderful people on this team. When Iām not reading Supreme Court decisions (or Oyez summaries of said decisions), you can find me with an iced oat milk latte and a mystery novel at any cafe in Georgetown.Ā
