Executive Board

Owen Reid

President

Hello! I’m Owen Reid, and I’m a junior in the College studying Government, History, and Russian. I hail from the great city of Baltimore, Maryland and I am a very proud Balti-moron. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Moot Court, and I’m very happy to be serving on the Board for the 2025 year. I really enjoy the case reading and preparation aspects of Moot Court, and I’ve grown to really appreciate the Moot Court community. I may go to Law school, but maybe not! Ultimately, I would say what’s kept me coming back to the club isn’t the preprofessional part of the club, but rather the casual yet competitive atmosphere, the lovely community, and the gratification of preparing for oral argument and seeing your preparations pay off. Aside from Moot Court, I do club soccer at Georgetown and you can find me working at the Tombs! I love traveling, food, Premier League and the Orioles! I can solve a rubik’s cube in 10 seconds. 😛

Anthony Wassink

Vice President

Hi! I’m Anthony and I am a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Government and double minoring in Philosophy and Music. I’m from California (the best state), in a beach city called Redondo Beach (but you’ll just hear me call it Los Angeles). I’ve been drawn to law for a while – creating arguments that range from balancing different interests, to making distinctions between cases, to creating your own ideas about what certain rights entail never gets old to me. As a proud and frequent debater with my mother, and someone passionate about advocating for other people, I find Moot Court to be a great way to refine my ability to do just that. If I’m not cram reading the cases for next practice, you’ll probably see me watching baseball or hockey, going on aimless nature walks, or listening to music and learning new songs on the piano!

Victoria Freeman

Treasurer

Hi, I’m Victoria and I’m a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences double majoring in Economics and Government. I’ve lived in New York City my entire life! I love Moot Court because it’s fun: I get to think on my feet and construct an airtight argument. Moot has taught me how to read and analyze case law, and I’ve learned to think like a lawyer and apply it to a hypothetical case problem. I’ve become a stronger and more self-assured speaker thanks to Moot. My favorite Moot tradition is getting McDonald’s the night before competition! When I’m not reading case law, I love reading, trying new coffee shops, and wandering DC. A fun fact about me is that I have a peach-faced lovebird named Solstice who flew through my window!

Jenna Tse

Communications Chair

Hi! My name is Jenna Tse, and I’m a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Government & Philosophy with a minor in Art. I’m from Long Island, New York. I’ve always loved to talk and argue, and Moot Court is the perfect way to put those interests to use! Since joining the team, I’ve had the opportunity to both learn about our court system, and work with a fantastic team of hardworking and inspiring mooters. When I’m not mooting, you can find me drawing in an art studio, taking walks around the Georgetown neighborhood, or late night binge-watching any law show.

Ashland Ross

Events Chair

Hey y’all! My name is Ashland Ross, and I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Public Policy with a minor in Environment and Sustainability. I am from Satsuma, Alabama (like the fruit) and yes, that is why I have a little accent. I joined Moot Court freshman year, having no clue what I was doing and stumbled into an amazing community and opportunity here at Georgetown. GU Moot Court is a place full of silly tournament vlogs, constitutional nerds, and lots of dad jokes. My fellow Mooters make me laugh and question myself regularly. Through Moot Court, I have grown not only my public speaking skills, but a love for constitutional law and advocacy. Outside of my duty as a moot lawyer, I am always reading, watching movies, and going on walks with my friends.

Captains

Eilat Herman

Eilat Herman is in Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences’ class of 2026, studying Government and minoring in Linguistics. She joined Moot Court as a freshman, and has served as the club’s Events Chair and Co-President before stepping into her current role as Captain. Eilat kindly requests that you do not ask her how many of her roommates are also on the Moot Court team. Outside of Moot, Eilat and writes a sports column for Georgetown’s school newspaper, spends way too much time watching baseball and wishing Derek Jeter was still on the Yankees, and strolls around D.C. in search of its cutest coffee shop. Eilat traces her appreciation for arguing to her hometown, Montclair, New Jersey, and will accept no New Jersey criticism.

Roma Jha

Hi! My name is Roma Jha, and I’m in the School of Health studying Healthcare Management and Policy. Before serving as Captain, I served as GUMCT’s Communications Chair and, most recently, Co-President. I’m from New Jersey, but fortunately not as enthusiastic about the state as Eilat. I’ve always loved puzzles, and working on Moot Court cases is just that. Crafting, revising, and analyzing arguments is like a game – I know the answer’s there, and I have to get creative to find it. I’ve also always enjoyed public speaking, and Moot allows me to improve my ability to think on my feet and clearly communicate my thoughts. Outside of GUMCT, you can find me pursuing advocacy work, watching reality TV, or reading the news. About half of my personality is Philadelphia sports teams (Go Birds!), so you can also find me cheering (or complaining) about the teams!

Vice Captains

Ellie Ta

Hi! I’m Ellie, a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Economics. I’m from Cerritos, California (the suburbs of LA County), and am constantly missing a good In-n-Out Burger while in DC.  Nothing tickles my law-loving brain quite like Moot Court! This is a space that sharpens our advocacy, critical thinking, and teamwork all at once. I love being a part of this team—I’m so grateful to work with, learn from, and befriend such lovely mooters! Most of the time you’ll find me yapping with other mooties, editing the next moot vlog (belated retreat vlog…has been in the works…), or following my GCal schedule a little too religiously. If not, I’m probably making another matcha, crafting a new keycap for my keyboard, uploading pics from my digicam, or laughing way too hard at my own cheesy jokes. 🧀

Sam McVey

Hi! I’m Sam, and I’m a sophomore in the McDonough School of Business (represent!) studying Finance and Accounting. I’m from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, which is about 30 minutes from Philadelphia. I’ve always been interested in the law, and Moot has been an amazing opportunity to learn about constitutional law while improving my ability to speak extemporaneously and think critically. My favorite thing about GUMCT, though, is our excellent community of Mooters! If I’m not trying to memorize footnotes or practicing in an empty ICC classroom, I’m probably walking to the M Street Chipotle (and mourning the Wawa on Wisconsin), watching the Phillies or Eagles, or doing work in the back hallway of the Leavey Center.
