Who We Are

Georgetown University Moot Court Team (GUMCT) is a student-run organization dedicated to the study and practice of constitutional law and oral advocacy. As a team, we compete in appellate-style oral argument tournaments across the country, representing Georgetown at the highest levels of undergraduate legal advocacy.

What is Moot Court?

Moot court simulates proceedings before the Supreme Court, where students argue fictional constitutional cases before panels of judges. Participants deliver compelling oral arguments and respond to questions based on real legal precedents. As a part of GUMCT, our competitors build skills in legal reasoning, public speaking, and critical thinking.

How to Join

We host tryouts at the beginning of the fall semester. Tryouts are open to all undergraduate students at Georgetown, regardless of school or year. Look out for our table at CAB fair and check out our social media to learn more!
